Welcome to my world!

This is the beginning of what I hope is going to be a long and wonderful journey! It is a journey that started a long time ago but one I never realized could grow and continue at this point in my life.

I remember starting my acting in first grade when my class acted out a play from our reader. I played a bad guy, a cowboy bandit, who, along with my gang, were robbing a wagon. We rode on our sawhorse horses to hold up the wagon. They had no money, but I (pretended) to cut off a lock of a girl's hair stating that her blonde hair was all the gold I needed. The students in the other grades thought I truly cut off a lock of her hair. Not bad for a first grader faking out the audience.

From that moment on, I enjoyed acting. It was stage plays and musicals in school at the time. My first paid gig was as a part of an ensemble performing dinner theater. It was a great summer job-twice weekly for nice pay. We performed 2x5 by Candor and Ebb. Such a fun time. That gig lead to my first TV commercial. It was a featured role with one of my ensemble-mates. No lines, but we were the only two actors in the commercial.

Fast forward many years, I made my way south from Michigan, after my first wife died, to live closer to my son's family in Texas. Since moving here, I stumbled upon acting once again. The role of background actor has led from long hours on a western to a role in a student film to commercials and even into a music video.

Since getting re-married, I have been able to share my love for acting with my wife, Deb. She never dreamed of acting but since we've been married, we have been in a movie, music video, TV show and we're featured in a commercial. Neither one of us thought this would happen, but we love it.

To wrap up this first blog, we have one more acting "job" that came our way. It is the perfect combination of my past career as a teacher of children with special needs and my love for acting. Deb and

I are working as Standardized Patients for a nearby university. That means we get to be patients for students in various areas; occupational, speech and language, and physical therapists as well as medical students, social workers and psychologists. This will never win an Academy Award, but it sure is rewarding.

What a journey this has been. Welcome to my journey. I plan to share my experiences with you and hope you will share yours with me! Check back to find out where the journey is taking me!
